How our program works for your success
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) empower clinicians to stay up to date on new and best practices within our field. Our fellowship is credentialed to provide certified credit recognized by licensing boards. It is our priority that every minute of the work and time participants spend in the program, be that lectures, discussion, or consultation time, are all included to count towards their required CEUs for their professional license. The fellowship culminates in a certification as a trauma provider.
Why We Exist
Our goal is to equip clinicians, not only with knowledge of trauma and its treatments, but also with compassion. We aim to provide clinicians with the skills and confidence they need – not only to provide safe, effective, and compassionate trauma-informed care to their clients, but also to take care of themselves as clinicians as they continue to engage with traumatic stories.
Meet Your Trainers
These are your hosts and guides through the Trauma Fellowship. Clair and Alexandra designed the Trauma Fellowship program after noticing a need for post-graduate training that was all in one place. Instead of searching for bits and pieces of content, and learning alone, they’ve gathered the core elements needed to grow as a trauma-trained mental health provider.
Clair Miller
Clair currently serves as Optimum Joy’s Director of Trauma-Informed Care. Joining our staff in 2018, she has been a Mental Health Therapist and Clinical Supervisor at our office for 6 years, and in the field for 8. Clair has experience working with clients primarily with complex trauma histories from adults to small toddlers. Clair has been trained in several trauma modalities and uses Prolonged Exposure, EMDR, and elements of both in integrative talk therapy. She is passionate about working with clients who are seeking to heal from trauma, most specifically sexual assault and abuse. She has led Trauma-Informed Trainings for clinicians and other professionals, including as part of Resonate Joy’s partnership with Oxford’s Global Women’s Narratives Project.
Alexandra Hoerr
Alexandra started working with clients over 10 years ago in a community mental health setting that supported a neighborhood that was a square mile wide with over 20 languages spoken. Age range, cultural background, mental health symptoms; no matter how diverse the clientele, they all had something in common, trauma experiences. This formative experience set the course of continued learning of how to best help people heal from overwhelm. Currently Alex works out of the private practice she founded in 2016, and spends the majority of her time caring for staff and through educational components for providers that are also in their formative years in practice.
